We honour our mcm today on his birthday, an American rapper and businessman and one of the best selling musicians and music moguls of all time, having sold more than 100 million records, while receiving 21 Grammy Awards for his music. Remaining ever relevant decade after decade whilst maintaining a very private personal life has been his forte, although his recent frank documentary has been very well received and respected. I’m sure you’ve guessed by now, I am indeed referring to Jay Z.
I’m sure most of us are familiar with the backstory to Jay Z’s life so I won’t delve to deeply into his past, instead I’d look to take a look at how he continues to Grow Daily and what kind of character that takes.
Invest intuitively – As Jay Z said “I bought some artwork for one million/Two years later, that shit worth two million/Few years later, that shit worth eight million/I can’t wait to give this shit to my children”
He’s built a legacy which provides inspiration for a people as well as showing his children that setting foundations and bases are equally as important as continuing to climb towards more success. Jay Z is a founder and owner of record companies. He has a clothing line and a sports bar. He’s a part owner of the NBA’s Brooklyn Nets. He has involvement in the casino and real estate industries. He owns the majority of the music streaming service, Tidal. All of this has allowed him to amass a net worth of reportedly more than $800 million, far more than he could make from music alone. He’s set for life even if he never raps another word, and if any one of his revenue streams falters, he has plenty of other streams coming in. GD’ers remember to diversify your income, “Generational wealth, that’s the key”.
I’m not perfect, no one on this earths surface is –
In today’s world, self awareness is more important than ever. The individuals who believe they are bigger than life are usually the ones who slack off and find themselves being left behind. Due to the increased popularity of social networking sites & blogging, the narcissist epidemic of self-delusion can threaten the true go getters out there, who may see those seemingly less intelligent/talented or deserving achieving success. People are becoming more and more obsessed with themselves to a point where many of them feel as if they’re in fact perfect and are to ignorant to see their own faults. As soon as you begin thinking you’re perfect, you begin missing opportunities to improve yourself. Learn from those around you and most importantly, learn from your mistakes. Because you will make them. The only question is whether or not you are able to recognize when they happen.
Surround yourself with greatness – You don’t see Jay-Z hanging out with low lives. You see him with people that are either going far in life or have already reached that point. It is a known fact that surrounding yourself with successful, smart people will help you become more successful and smart. Don’t hesitate when it comes to being social because making friends and connections is essential to becoming wealthy and powerful.
Help others Grow – Helping other people flourish is something that we should all do and something that Jay-Z does well. Jay-Z has discovered many famous people including Rihanna and Kanye West who have gone on to become worldwide superstars. What’s different about him is that he was willing to give them a chance and he saw potential in them. If you see potential in someone, give them a chance; it may even help you in the future.
Have a Mentor – Jay-Z knew that he couldn’t get to the top by himself. Any intelligent man knows that in order to eventually become the teacher, you have to first be the student. Jay-Z made sure that he was learning from the best. The late Notorious B.I.G. was Jay-Z’s biggest inspiration and his mentor in the rap game and it has been reflected in his music throughout his career.
What are your thoughts on master alliances, friendships, business partners and relationships.
Ensure that in all your bonds you are able to grow daily and aid others to be able to Grow Daily in your company.
Until next time be good to yourselves, kind to others and above all GROW DAILY.
