Today’s MCM is Britains most successful manager, responsible for 13 Premier League titles, 5 Fa Cups, 4 League Cups, a management style by which men are made; I am of course referring to none other than Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former Manchester United manager whom retired in 2013, is still widely revered to as a man of morals, strong values, exceeding belief in the youth and a life long labour supporter. All of which equate to unwavering respect from football fans, many of his former players & beyond.
Our first look at Sir Alex’s philosophy of trusting young players came in the form of the ‘class of 92’ – Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, David Beckham, Gary and Phil Neville – This dream team were the foundation of United’s tremendous success across three decades.
It did not end there, Sir Alex continued to give the youth the foreground; allowing young players such as : Rio Ferdinand, Cristiano Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney, Robin Van Persie and Patrice Evra to name a few to become world class players recognised worldwide for skill, execution and exceptional team work.
Quoting Sir Alex, “The value is two-fold. One, that they’ll always remember the person who gave them a start in life, they always will; and secondly it creates a loyalty base that’s there for life”.
Hence many players managed by Fergie, will attest to how his firm yet encouraging leadership turned young footballers into men of great character.
That is why I’d like us all whether fans of football or not, to take these 3 steps to ensure we build a legacy before during and after the limelight. Every point in your life matters, there is no ‘prime time’ there is simply an OPTIMUM you; it’s up to you to transform (pardon the expected pun).
Trust your theories, and execute solutions: A theory is often an unexplored stance, among that may lie a new solution, simplifier and or winning formula. You owe it to yourself and your legacy, to explore and execute with consistent conviction. Do not leave many things undone and answered. Build the BEST from the good given to you.
The youth are the change, we transform; they evolve. Give them new, re energised, infused, hope, determination and stability. The choices we make should always have a “how will this affect the next generation: my kids, grandkids, great grandkids etc”. If we think about giving a better base to the youth for healthier seeds to be planted, we in turn will blossom by way of overturning broken grounds.
You may not be the first to do it but you’ll always be the best at being YOU. You will always be respected for consistency in character. Great BONDS are an ASSET to invest it. Aim to have a likeminded team who encourage each other to Grow Daily, but do not be afraid to strengthen your roots alone first if necessary. You’ll be the best manager, player and supporter when you are in control of self first.
Until next time be good to yourselves, kind to others and above all GROW DAILY.
