Now this is a story all about how, our MCM flipped Hollywood upside down; and I’d like to take a minute just sit right there .. I’ll tell you why he’s more than just the Fresh Prince of Belair. This man needs no further introduction, Mr Will Smith.
A staple on our tv screens throughout the decades, Will Smith whom turns 49 today – September 25th ( Happy Birthday Will 🥂) has been revered as the most powerful actor in Hollywood (via Newsweek circa 2007); and is our generations most popular all rounder. An American actor, producer, rapper, comedian, and songwriter, Smith has been nominated for two Academy Awards, Five Golden Globe Awards, and has won four Grammy Awards. It’s no wonder Smith has received these accolades, he is often sought after for leads in major films; due to his like ability, raw portrayal of emotion and the fact that as of 2014, 17 of the 21 films in which he has had leading roles in; have accumulated worldwide gross earnings of over $100 million each, five taking in over $500 million each in global box office qpreceipts. Thus giving Smith the title of most bankable (S/O Uncle Phil) star worldwide by Forbes.
Yet with all these evident talents, charisma and charm there is also another extremely intelligent, forward thinking and innovative side to Smith that we’ve seen surface in his older years. Even looking at his offspring, you can see that they have been raised to know no limitations, to be brave and upstanding and to believe in their personal greatness.
These very lessons are what i’d like to encourage all our GD’ers to adopt, the WILL of a WINNER. You may be good now but if you’re reading this, you are certainly a lot closer to fulfilling your great purpose.
“Greatness is not this wonderful, esoteric, elusive, god-like feature that only the special among us will ever taste – you know it’s something that truly exists in all of us. It’s very simple, this is what I believe and I’m willing to die for it. Period. It’s that simple. And that’s all I need to know, so from there you do what you need to do.” – Will Smith
So here are three traits that constitute a winners will:
- Have a purpose – When you discover and live true to your life purpose in the highest possible way, your soul will “sing” in a way you’ve never “seen” before, the frequency you will vibrate on will only add onto you likened things and situations. Your purpose will be an enigmatic feeling you’ll know when you realize it. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you’re from, or what you do. As long as you wish to live a more meaningful and conscious life, you need to have a life purpose.
- Perfect your skills with passion – The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft. Most people see the outcome, they don’t see the hours that’ve gone behind it, they don’t see the hustle (the shooting in the gym) they simply see the slam dunk glory moments.
- Everything, even this moment is temporary unless you choose to attach a permanent reaction or thought to it – “If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree.” – Jim Rohn
Your past doesn’t define you, and where you are is just temporary. If you are feeling stuck, it’s time to rewire your brain and focus on the bright future ahead of you. Don’t be afraid to venture into new interests, passions and hobbies as Will Smith did, it may just help you cash out and collect accolades and an abundance of happiness.
Until next time be good to yourselves, kind to others and above all GROW DAILY.
