#WCW – Angela Davies

More videos
Today’s WCW is an American political activist, academic, and author, whom emerged as a prominent counterculture activist (anti establishment) and radical in the 1960s as a leader of the Communist Party USA. Our WCW, also had close relations with the Black Panther Party within her involvement in the Civil Rights Movement. The lady to whom this’d legacy belongs to is Angela Davies.
Davies is extremely intelligent and a non musical icon for the term ‘woke’, she has spent her lifetime dedicated to slaughtering social inequalities & injustices. Davies was a professor (now retired) at the University of California, Santa Cruz in its History of Consciousness Department and a former director of the university’s Feminist Studies department. Her research interests are feminism, African-American studies, critical theory, Marxism, popular music, social consciousness and the philosophy and history of punishment and prisons. She co-founded Critical Resistance, an organization working to abolish the prison industrial complex.
Her work is exceptionally important to the progression and continuation of a fair, progressive social climate for future generations. All to often popular music, black history and critical theory are spoke on and researched by people at the more fortunate side of the spectrum of the topic, so having a figure such as Davies discuss and present solutions to the people with the power to change them; is indeed a blessing. Not to mention the ground shaking phenomenon of her being a female, a black female who dares to command more than she is given.
Needless to say, there is much to be learnt and researched in regards to Ms Davies; but here are two  things i’d like you to take from quotes of this great woman.
“Radical simply means “grasping things at the root”.
If you want true change in your life, don’t trim edges and softly rearrange your life so not offend others; nonsense/drama .. ‘nip it in the bud’ as they say. Plant seeds for your success that are only nurtured by positive influences and nutrients. Grow Daily
“We have to talk about liberating minds as well as liberating society”.
This means that whilst it is amazing that you are supporting the causes for change and progression on a large scale, we need to ensure that the minds of the people are growing and elevating to a higher consciousness; able to live in kind with one and other without letting racial/social divides stunt our progress and innovations. A liberated mind, begins with one and becomes campaigned by those willing to learn.
Until next time be good to yourselves, kind to others and above all GROW DAILY.
