Our WCW nicknamed ‘Moses’ (Moses in the Bible led his people out of slavery, as like our WCW led her people to freedom by going north via the Underground Railroad) was an American abolitionist, humanitarian, nurse, armed leader & spy for the United States Army during the American Civil War; and a major advocate of freedom and personal will. I present to you, General Harriet Tubman.
Besides being a character of great conviction and determination, Ms Tubman is often regarded in high esteem for her selflessness and determination to provide others with the freedom she had found for herself. It was not until she passed away that the accolades she undeniably deserves were given, further proving that she acted not for the acknowledgement and praise but for the purpose and what a purpose it was. Ms Tubman we express eternal gratitude for your bold action and strong will, and hope that we in turn may do justice to your memory; in living great lives of purpose over propaganda.
So, as per the life of Ms Tubman; here are some ways in which her life/legacy can inspire you to live a purpose driven life on route to your freedom (be that financially, mentally, or even physical bounds).
“Don’t ever stop. Keep going. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going.” ~Harriet Tubman
Born into slavery and raised in a world with no hope, a child whom most would expect courage to be beaten out of by way of all the lashings, was undeterred and continued to dream her dreams and doing what she had to do to attain them. Ms Tubman had a known deep and abiding faith that she was being guided by God and held steadfast in her conviction that all she had to do was keep going and God would take care of the details.
Today, most of us don’t live with the kind of urgency or clear purpose that Ms Tubman had; instead we lead busy lives and often times are too distracted trying to attain what society tells us we should want/have to be aware of any inner knowing. GD’ers, I urge you all to scale it all back and uncover your purpose; once you find it LIVE in it and don’t stop until you are fulfilling it.
Be mindful & acknowledge your natural instincts :
Be aware of physical / mental sensations. It’s no accident that the term “gut feeling” is used to describe intuition. Whether you operate in faith, personal will, logic or realism; pay attention to what your body is telling you. You do not need to rely solely on a specialists opinion, if you answer your bodies initial warnings and signs. Be mindful of what you eat, who you’re around and the energy you give and receive, believe me when I say doing so will severely alter your quality of life for the better.
Do not settle in stagnancy or fall to fear:
Some are born to lead and others will faithfully follow. Do not disservice yourself by not deciding which rings most true to your nature.
Twice forward never back – that’s the motto.
Allow yourself to venture beyond imaginable, not because it’s presented to you; but because you know that it’s your sole responsibility to forage a prosperous future.
If there are any other lessons you believe can be taken from Ms Tubmans life, please leave your thoughts in the comments below.
Until next time be good to yourselves, kind to others and above all GROW DAILY.
